Brief

The brief was to use sound design effectively.

What's happening next door?

In Greece, child abuse incidents are heavily underreported due to social taboos. Abuse happens behind closed doors, and while neighbors frequently hear it, they rarely speak up.

THE IDEA

A series of interactive ambient installations across Athens. We placed free-standing walls on the streets featuring a physical glass pressed against them, inviting passersby to eavesdrop.

When a person approaches the glass, motion sensors trigger an audio recording. It starts with everyday apartment noises that gradually escalate, peaking at the sound of a child crying.

Each installation features a different story, but the final voiceover remains the same: "When something doesn't sound right, speak up. Call the ELIZA helpline for free at 10454."

The installation is designed to be intentionally shocking, prompting people to record their reactions and share them on social media, sparking a necessary public conversation.
